More About Jemma

Jemma has transformed from street survivor to a sweet companion. Her story is one of resilience and hope. Once a stray, she spent her early life on the streets, enduring hardship and fear. She had litter after litter of puppies, and was often met with cruelty; leaving her scared and withdrawn.

Her life began to change when a kind-hearted community member alerted us to her situation and the two surviving pups she was protecting. While the pups were safely rescued, Jemma was too frightened to approach. With gentle persistence, we used a humane trap to bring her to Ocean Acres.
She arrived thin, wary, and unsure of what lay ahead. Day by day, Jemma blossomed. Her trust in people grew, her spirit lifted, and her tail began to wag. Today, she’s a cheerful, affectionate young dog who’s finally free from never-ending motherhood and ready to embrace a life of comfort and love.

Jemma’s Personality & Needs:
• Friendly with other dogs and comfortable around cats
• Medium energy: enjoys playtime and relaxing walks
• Walks beautifully on a lead
• Loves outings with staff and volunteers
• Could thrive as a solo dog or in a multi-dog home

While we haven’t seen Jemma interact with very young children, she’s been fine with the younger volunteers she has met. So long as the children are supervised and know how to behave respectfully around dogs we think Jemma will be ok.

Jemma is ready for her forever home where she can continue her journey surrounded by kindness, companionship, and the love she’s always deserved.

Jemma is approximately 24lbs
