Nell

Nell was rescued from the same home as Marco, Tim and Happy and Bryony.  Sadly it was not a good home – they were loose and allowed to roam free.  The home owners took no steps to keep the dogs secured, and they were forced to wander the streets unattended and therefore unsafely, which is what lead to poor Bryony’s car accident and resulting leg amputation.

Upon Nell’s rescue we immediately noticed he had a lump on his front leg which we are guessing may have come from a fight.  He was limping badly on it when we first brought him home to Ocean Acres.  He was taken to see the vet immediately and we were told that it was not broken and when we asked, were advised there wasn’t really anything further we could do for him about it, that it would likely heal over time.  We were told the lump is comprised of hardened tissue.  Thankfully, as the vet predicted, it has improved over time but he does still limp slightly on it a bit.  It doesn’t appear to affect his demeanor, but he may also have just gotten accustomed to living with it.  He has visibly progressed to limping less which is a happy improvement.

Nell has been living with another dog, Judy, who has just been adopted, mid December 2021.  When he was first came to us, he didn’t get along with all dogs, so we will see who he befriends now that Judy is moving on.  Time spent with her may well have improved his attitude towards other dogs; Judy is a confident dog who was able to put him in his place and she actually took very little notice of him!  He has shown no signs of aggression whatsoever with her.  More to come on this – we will update this bio accordingly as we find out.  He does get along wonderfully with all people and kids. He’s a lovely dog and easy to get on with in every other way, very friendly with people and children.  It might be that he is better suited to a home where he can be the star of the show! Or he may just need a strong lady in his life like Judy!
