Shontelle

In March 2023, Shontelle’s life changed when she wandered into someone’s yard in a terrible state. She was painfully thin, her skin covered in sores and bleeding. After a vet check, she came to Ocean Acres and began her long road to recovery. At first quiet and exhausted, she steadily regained her strength, blossoming into the beautiful dog she is today.

Shontelle loves people and thrives on attention and affection. She has shared her space with other dogs and is happiest with a larger male companion. While she can socialize and be alongside dogs without issue, she isn’t suited for dog parks or unmanaged introductions. She is reactive toward cats, so a cat-free home is essential. Around children, she is gentle and comfortable. Shontelle walks beautifully on a lead, travels well in the car, and has even attended events with other dogs.

One important note: Shontelle does have the capability to jump fences if she chooses. Although she does this less often now, in a new home she should never be left outside unattended.

Despite her progress, Shontelle has sadly been overlooked for years. She is ready now for the love and comfort of a forever family — a chance to finally experience the home she has never had.
