Sullivan’s story is one of unimaginable hardship and resilience. He and his brother Gilbert were spotted by a member of the community, who sent us a photo and their location. What we found was heartbreaking; two skeletal dogs, riddled with ticks, barely clinging to life.
They were hesitant at first, but hunger overcame fear, and they allowed us to help. The cleanup was painstaking, taking hours to remove the countless ticks. We weren’t sure they’d survive. After a night of food and comfort, they were hospitalized at the vet clinic. Sullivan, in worse shape than Gilbert, needed a blood transfusion to pull through. Amazingly both dogs tested negative for tick fever.
Miraculously, both boys recovered and moved into a loving foster home. Gilbert has since been adopted and is thriving in his forever family. But Sullivan is still waiting for his happy ending.

Sullivan Today:
– Medium energy: loves paddock play and quiet cuddles
– Affectionate and people-loving
– Gets along well with similarly sized female dogs
– Walks nicely on a lead and shows little interest in cats
– Could thrive as an only dog in a calm, loving home
– We haven’t tested Sullivan with small dogs
Sullivan hasn’t been exposed to very young children, but he certainly enjoys human company. As always, children should be supervised and taught respectful behavior around dogs.
Sullivan has come so far, from the brink of death to a joyful, companion. Now all he needs is someone to see the beauty in his journey and offer him the forever home he deserves.
Sullivan is approximately 65lbs
