They say the moon shines brightest on the darkest nights, and that couldn’t be truer for this wonderful boy. For the first five years of his life, Moon didn’t have the easiest path. Left tied up by the people who were supposed to cherish him, he spent a lot of time waiting for a kind word. Thankfully, he had a real-life guardian angel—a Good Samaritan who visited him constantly, brought him nutritious food, gave him refreshing baths, and showered him with the affection he so desperately craved. When his owners moved away and left him behind, his guardian angel desperately tried to find a safe haven for him. With time running out and facing euthanasia at a local vet clinic, she reached out to us as a last resort. When we met Moon on that “borrowed time” day, we didn’t see a broken dog; we saw an incredibly gentle, friendly, and kind soul. We knew instantly that we had to step in, rewrite his story, and bring him into the safety of our sanctuary.
His Personality Despite his rough past, Moon is remarkably confident and friendly with everyone he meets. He is a “best of both worlds” kind of guy: he has a lovely medium energy level, meaning he thoroughly enjoys being out and about exploring, but he is equally content to settle down for some serious cuddle time.
With Other Dogs: Moon is a total gentleman. During his stressful time at the vet clinic, he remained completely unfazed by all the barking and commotion around him. He is fine with other dogs and tends to mind his own business.
With Cats: He hasn’t been tested with felines just yet, but we can arrange that if his future home has a resident kitty.
Moon walks very well on a lead! He gets a little enthusiastic and pulls just a bit right at the start of a walk (who can blame him for being excited?), but with a little consistent guidance, he’ll have perfect leash manners in no time. Moon is looking for a family that will promise to never leave him behind again. He would thrive in a home that values both outdoor adventures and cozy couch snuggles. He’s spent five years waiting for a real home—let’s make it happen.
Moon is approximately 48lbs
