Angelica
- Date Adopted: June 1, 2024
This is Angelica, one of four siblings; the others are Juniper, Anise and Tobasco – The Spice Pups!
They were surrendered after an unwanted pregnancy. The owner could not care for them. He didn’t want to surrender the mother but we have since managed to get her spayed – so no more puppies. The pups were quite nervous and unsocialized when they arrived in July 2021. Angelica was the most nervous of the pups.
Because she was so nervous, we haven’t thought she was ready to be adopted, until now, it’s taken here a while to find her confidence. She is playful with other dogs and enjoys being outside and running around. In her early days, when she felt really threatened, she has snapped at people if they tried to press her into unwanted contact. As she has grown in confidence, those days are behind her. She now interacts well and doesn’t mind people touching her.
A big turning point for Angelica was when we partnered her with Jafar. She really loves him and he gives her confidence and brought her out of her shell. She was immediately happier once she was with him. They have become the best of friends and live together, sleep together, go walking together. These two are often out and about and you can see in the pictures that they have accompanied us to fundraisers etc.
We are loving seeing Angelica so happy and we really want her to continue on this path; and we believe she will. She needs a home that is calm, and humans to support her transition from Ocean Acres – which is the only home she’s known. We believe she would benefit from having Jafar with her, he would give her the refence point and security to cope with the change to a new home. Calmness and confidence is the way forward with Angelica.
They both very much enjoy going for walks, and the two of them travel well in the car together, in fact Angelica jumps straight into the back of the jeep. One thing she is still not great at is being picked up suddenly. We are working on this and she is getting better.
Angelica is approximately 35lbs. ANGELICA HAS BEEN ADOPTED IN CANADA.
