Kalea’s story is a sad one. After several reports of a skinny mother dog living at nearby Bath beach, an OA representative went over to find her. She was easy to spot, sleeping under a picnic table. She stood up and to look at her painfully thin body, all ribs showing and her engorged mammary glands, indicating the birth of puppies very recently was difficult. We scoured the area for two days with no sign of the puppies anywhere. Meantime, Kalea was just excited to get a proper meal and happily jumped in the car to leave the beach and get to her new foster home. She’s now been in Foster since Feb 15 and she has gained weight and really come out of her quiet shell. When it’s getting close to feeding time, she demonstrates her enthusiasm and gratitude by doing a few zoomies around the house. Her favorite pastime is definitely eating.
She is super loving and affectionate. When she is outside playing, she happily engages with her foster brothers, ( including 100 lb GS) chasing and teasing and happy to be noticed by them. She is house trained and lives with two cats. She will make an excellent companion to a single person or a family.
Kalea is 15lbs approximately
