More About Lani

Lani is a survivor with a heart of gold.
We found her just off a busy highway, on a golf course, where she was wandering with her puppies—traumatized, untrusting, and fiercely protective, and trying to survive. Some of her pups had already been taken by strangers, and the remaining two, like their mother, were too fearful to approach. It took gentle trapping to bring them all to safety. But once in care, everything changed.
Lani blossomed.

She transformed into a friendly, loving dog who thrives on connection. Obedient and eager to please, she listens intently and walks beautifully on leash. She’s a dream to train—attentive, responsive, and motivated by love. Her medium-to-low energy makes her an ideal companion for a calm household, and she would thrive as an only dog, offering unwavering loyalty and affection.

With other dogs, Lani is selective but has successfully shared space with male dogs in a bonded pair. Initially non-reactive to cats, she’s become more reactive since moving to an outdoor pen where teasing cats linger just out of reach. Still, given her trainability, it’s possible she could learn to coexist with a cat in the home—though it’s not guaranteed.

Lani’s past left its mark: a dislocated jaw from blunt force trauma means her tongue hangs out. While surgery isn’t an option, it doesn’t affect her ability to eat or enjoy life. It simply adds character to her already soulful presence.
She’s gentle, loving, and would likely do well with dog-savvy children. Though she hasn’t been exposed to babies or very young kids, her calm demeanor suggests she could adapt with proper guidance.

Lani is more than a rescue—she’s a story of resilience, transformation, and hope. She deserves a home where she’s cherished, understood, and given the chance to be someone’s most loyal companion.
