Maybelle

One afternoon in early February 2025, we were called about some puppies that had been spotted running into the road. We responded and caught two, but the third one was refusing to be caught so we set a trap. That did the trick and the third one was caught later that day. The next day, more puppies were seen in the same place, so off we went again, and two more were caught. We thought that was it, but no. Further activity was noticed. Late at night, in the dark, with the light of a phone, we caught the 6th puppy. Surely that was it, but we saw another one popping its head out of the bush – but couldn’t catch the him. We set the trap again and the next morning caught the 7th (and final!) M puppy. Maynard, May, Maybelle, Marlene, Mavis, Mason and Mack. 7 adorable little brown pups.

The pups did well at Ocean Acres and are now ready to move on to their forever homes. Maybelle is a ‘love-a-holic’ she adores attention and will push to the front of the other dogs to make sure she’s not forgotten! She started off a bit shy with new things and new people and is still not a fan of crowds of people she doesn’t know, but once she knows you, she loves you big time! With regular walks and outings she is getting more confident in new environments, she’s fine with passing traffic – (although our traffic is not like ‘downtown’ traffic) but trucks and motorbikes can pass by and she’s not phased. Maybelle gets on well with all other dogs, and is fine with cats. Her energy is medium, although she can be a bit excited and giddy when it’s walk time; she very soon calms down and has learned to sit and to wait at the gate until allowed out. She loves her snacks and is very food motivated which makes training easy. Maybelle is adorable, she longs for love and a family of her own and has so much potential.

Maybelle is approximately 17lbs but may still grow a little bit. We expect them all to remain small dogs.
