Blair
- Date Adopted: October 13, 2025
Blair arrived at Ocean Acres in April 2022, along with her brother Bentley and sister Bethany. That’s a long time ago. They were all extremely sad, malnourished and very shy. They had received no socialization and no kind or caring interaction, only rough handling and neglect. It’s been a long road to cheer them up and win their confidence.
Blair is a happy girl now and it is so rewarding to see the joy on her face as she strides out on her walks with her tail held high. She walks beautifully on a lead, doesn’t pull at all and constantly checks in with her human – in the hope that their might be a treat available! (Blair is very food motivated). She very much enjoys the company of other dogs but is still a little bit hesitant of new people – although getting better everyday. We are continuing her socialisation and she is a joy to work with. We think she would like toys, as she enjoys husking coconuts!
We don’t think it would suit her at the moment to be around children who are loud, unpredictable and too lively. Blair has never lived in a house so would need support in getting used to that and she would benefit from the company of at least one calm, happy, well adjusted dog to show her the ropes. Blair often visits the office at Ocean Acres, happily goes up a steep flight of stairs and is unphased with the tiled floors and different surroundings of being inside. In terms of energy levels, she is medium, loves her walks, and will run around the exercise paddocks, but is happy to relax and chill out. When on walks we often stop and sit a while, admiring the view, and she is quite happy to do that, she’s a wonderful companion.
When she takes the next step, and leaves Ocean Acres, Blair needs a person or family who are experienced in supporting a dog who took a while to learn to trust humans. She needs consistent, confident and calm guidance, love and security to continue her journey.
Blair is approximately 35lbs.
Blair has been adopted in Canada.
