More About Stevie

Stevie’s story began in March of 2025, when a tourist walking along a Barbados beach noticed a thin, sickly dog lying in the sand with a smaller dog pressed close beside her. That dog was Stevie and the younger one, Duke, who appeared to be her puppy. Concerned, the tourist sought our advice and took them both to the vet, where Ocean Acres stepped in to continue their care.

Both dogs were underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and suffering from tick fever. Stevie was the first to be discharged from the vet and though physically recovered, she seemed to carry a deep sadness. She enjoyed gentle attention and happily went on walks, but in between she often lay quietly, as though still carrying the weight of her past.

Everything changed the day Duke was discharged from the vet. The moment Stevie saw him again, her joy lit up, tail wagging, eyes bright, seemingly full of relief. The two have remained close companions ever since, and their bond has been beautiful to watch.

In the beginning, we believed Stevie and Duke would need to be adopted together, as we thought they were inseparable. But over time, as they’ve grown more confident and settled, we’ve seen that they can now be happily and securely adopted individually. They’re equally content when apart, enjoying the routine, care, and attention they receive at Ocean Acres. Of course, they could still be adopted as a pair for anyone looking for a ready-made duo, both options are now possible.

Stevie is an absolute pleasure to be around—gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully easy-going.
   •   Low energy, calm, and sweet-natured
   •   Loves her walks and delights in sniffing and discovering new scents
   •   Friendly with everyone she meets, and she quickly rolls over for a belly rub (her favourite!)
   •   Great with children and cats
   •   Could be an only dog, or she’d also enjoy the company of another calm, kind dog

After surviving so long on her own, Stevie is ready for a life filled with comfort, love, and security. She has a soft heart, a gentle spirit, and so much gratitude for simple kindness. She has part of one ear missing, which doesn’t affect her at all – life on the streets, surviving around other stray dogs is hard.

If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who will cherish every moment by your side, this sweet girl is waiting to meet you

Stevie is approximately 39lbs
